Discover Tsunami Asian Restaurant

Walking into Tsunami Asian Restaurant feels like stepping into a familiar neighborhood spot that still manages to surprise you. Tucked along 1095 Texas Palmyra Hwy, Honesdale, PA 18431, United States, this diner-style Asian restaurant has become a regular stop for locals who want comfort food with layered flavors and steady quality. I’ve eaten here more times than I can count, usually after a long drive, and the consistency is what keeps pulling me back.

The menu covers a wide range of Asian-inspired favorites, blending Chinese, Thai, and pan-Asian staples without trying to overcomplicate things. You’ll see classics like lo mein, fried rice, and General Tso’s chicken sitting comfortably next to sushi rolls and noodle soups. One thing that stands out is portion size. On my first visit, I ordered the house special fried rice thinking it would be a light dinner, and it easily turned into lunch the next day. That kind of value shows up repeatedly in reviews from diners who appreciate getting more than expected without sacrificing taste.

From a process standpoint, the kitchen clearly follows a high-volume but controlled workflow. Orders come out fast, yet nothing tastes rushed. Proteins stay tender, vegetables keep their crunch, and sauces don’t feel watered down. According to food science research from the USDA, maintaining proper wok temperatures is key to flavor retention and food safety, and Tsunami’s stir-fry dishes reflect that balance. You get that subtle smoky edge without any greasy aftertaste, which tells me the cooks know exactly when ingredients hit the pan.

The sushi side of the menu deserves its own attention. I’m not usually adventurous with rolls in small-town diners, but Tsunami changed that habit. The California roll is clean and fresh, while specialty rolls layer texture carefully instead of piling on sauces. Industry data from the National Fisheries Institute shows that freshness perception is the top factor in sushi satisfaction, and that aligns with my experience here. The fish tastes fresh, the rice is properly seasoned, and nothing feels like it’s been sitting too long.

Service plays a big role in why people keep leaving positive reviews. The staff recognizes repeat customers and remembers preferences, which builds trust quickly. On one visit, I asked for a mild spice adjustment, and the server checked back twice to make sure it was right. That kind of attentiveness lines up with hospitality standards promoted by the National Restaurant Association, where personalized service consistently ranks as a driver of customer loyalty.

Location-wise, being right on Texas Palmyra Highway makes this place easy to reach whether you’re local or just passing through Wayne County. Parking is simple, and the dining area stays relaxed even during busy hours. While it’s not a flashy space, it feels comfortable, clean, and practical, which suits the food and the crowd it attracts.

There are some limitations worth noting. During peak dinner hours, takeout orders can stack up, which occasionally stretches wait times by a few minutes. Also, while the menu is broad, vegan options are more limited compared to larger metro restaurants. Still, the staff is usually willing to adjust dishes when possible, which helps bridge that gap.

Overall, this is the kind of place where real-world experience matters more than hype. The menu delivers familiar Asian flavors done with care, the location is convenient, and the steady stream of positive reviews reflects what you’ll likely experience yourself. For anyone looking for a reliable Asian restaurant in Honesdale that feels both casual and dependable, this spot quietly earns its reputation through consistency rather than gimmicks.

  • Fried Calamari with jalapenos for a little spice, Philadelphia roll, Eel cucumber roll and mackerel sashimi... the fish is always very fresh! Finished the meal off with Cheesecake Tempura, it's rich and the perfect dessert to finish the meal with! Staff is friendly and sociable. Gary makes the coolest sushi rolls! Would definitely recommend!

  • I called to ask how busy they were as I have leukemia and can’t have a lot Of exposure to a lot of people, she said it was not busy at all and she could seat us far away from others. We arrived at 4 pm and there were only 2 other tables (4 people) there. We ordered, our food came out quickly, was hot and delicious. For appetizers we had the crab Rangoon and the chicken satay, both were excellent, at first I wasn’t sure about the peanut sauce as it was a bit heavy on the curry but 3 bites in and it was addictive! I had the Hunan chicken, (which I’d never had before) the amount of vegetables in it was impressive and everything was fresh. My husband had the chicken pad Thai which was excellent. Portions were very generous and we took home enough for likely 2 more meals for us. The staff, wow! Our waitress Sage was incredibly kind, courteous, respectful and considerate. Every time she came to our table she put a mask on l, which I can’t tell you how much I appreciated that. I didn’t ask her to, she just did it and that shows me that she values others and respects their situations. She was attentive, friendly and quick, and clearly a hard worker. So refreshing as you rarely get this kind of experience anymore.

  • My fiancee and I have gone here both Saturday and today. On our first day the wait time was long (to be seated) but today we went straight in and had recieved fast service. The food is phenomenal, very afforable, and the presentation is fantastic. The employees are very kind and well attentive. Tsunami will be our go to choice for Chinese and sushi.

  • This place is pretty good a good 8/10. It was a pretty good place for pa. Mt favorite was the crab Rangoon so creamy and delicate.the sesame chicken was delicious. I also got the login wich had a very salty soy sauce flavor to it.last the chicken lettuce rap. It was good but had too much juice so it dripped a lot. Anyway if you like Chinese food go her and you will be pleased
